Donor Insemination (DI)
Frozen/thawed sperm from an anonymous
donor is placed into a woman's uterus at the time of
ovulation. DI is also referred to as "artificial
insemination using donor sperm" or "AID".
DI becomes the treatment of choice:
- For single women and same- sex
couples
- When other treatments for male
factor infertility are not possible or were unsuccessful
(i.e. ICSI, varicocele repair, etc.)
- When the man is a carrier
of an undesirable hereditary disease
