Susan Ward
RN, MBA
Susan Ward is the Director of Clinical
Services and is responsible for ensuring our patients
receive the best possible nursing care. She is able
to do this thanks to her 20 plus years in the field
of Reproductive Medicine and Women’s Health as
a nurse, manager and director.
Susan’s very impressive credentials
include participation in several project based initiatives
such as; the planning and development of the SARS Unit
for the City of Hamilton and the planning and development
of the Reproductive and Family Health Units at the West
End Clinic in Hamilton. She has acted as a program evaluation
consultant for the Calgary Health Authority and the
Ottawa Civic Hospitals. In the past she has been awarded
for her expertise in program evaluation, process redesign
and change management skills.
Susan has helped shape not only our
facility’s excellent quality of care standard
but has contributed nationally and internationally to
that goal. She has published several articles with respect
to regulations, patient safety, and quality control
including a thesis on “The effectiveness of Regulation
in the area of Reproductive Medicine.” Susan also
currently works as a surveyor with the Canadian Council
on Health Services and Accreditation (CCHSA) both nationally
and internationally. She has been instrumental in developing
educational guidelines and standards for Independent
Health Facilities on behalf of the College of Physician
and Surgeons of Ontario and accreditation standards
for Assisted Reproductive Technology for CCHSA.
Susan has contributed to her
community through her involvement with professional
societies as a board member, committee chair and editor.
She also tutored organizational development for McMaster
University and lectured for many organizations including
the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (SOGC)
Nursing Best Practices, Athabasca University, Canadian
Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS) and the Toronto
Law Society.
